Pico de São João is a prominent mountain overlooking the bay of São João in the Cantagalo district on the east coast of São Tomé. Its proximity to the sea and its steep slopes give it a dramatic appearance. The mountain is an eroded volcanic cone, its flanks now partly covered with agricultural crops, especially cocoa, and partly with secondary forest.
