Praia Micondó is considered one of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches on the east coast of São Tomé. The fine, golden sand and the gently sloping shore make it a handy place for relaxing and swimming, far from the more well-known tourist paths. Characteristic are the countless coconut palms that reach almost into the water and provide natural shade. Here you often meet local fishermen mending their nets or heading out to sea in dugouts. The atmosphere is authentic and quiet, excellent for travelers seeking the original island life. Nearby there are often small stalls where you can try fresh coconut water or local snacks. The bay is well protected, which makes the water usually appear very calm. A visit is particularly worthwhile in the late afternoon when the light bathes the palms in warm colors.
