Frohnleiten is situated in the Mur Valley, approximately 25 kilometers north of Graz in Styria. The town was purposefully laid out in the 13th century at a narrow point of the Mur River to control the trade route. A striking feature of Frohnleiten is its magnificent floral displays, which have earned the municipality several awards in the 'Entente Florale' competition. The historic main square charms visitors with well-preserved townhouses and the Baroque St. Catherine's Church. Today, the town's economy is characterized by the paper and pulp industry, as well as its strategic position along the Brucker Expressway and the Southern Railway. For active travelers, Frohnleiten provides direct access to the Mur Cycle Path and numerous hiking trails into the surrounding Graz Highlands. A special cultural highlight is the former abbey in the Adriach district, whose origins date back to the early Middle Ages and is considered one of the oldest parishes in Styria.
