The Sevan Mountain Range extends northeast of Lake Sevan along the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The range spans approximately 50 kilometers and forms a significant watershed between the Sevan basin and the tributaries of the Kura River. Its highest summit is Mount Sakhsar, reaching an elevation of 3066 meters. Geologically, the range is composed of volcanic and sedimentary rocks, with ophiolite complexes suggesting a complex tectonic history.
