Lake Parz (Armenia)

Weather…

Lake Parz, meaning 'Clear Lake' in Armenian, is a memorable natural reservoir tucked away in the dense forests of Dilijan National Park in the Tavush Province. Located at an altitude of 1,331 meters, the lake was formed by a prehistoric landslide that dammed the valley, creating a serene body of water. It is renowned for its bustling emerald-green hue, caused by the reflection of the surrounding thick deciduous forests that grow right to the water's edge. Measuring 385 meters in length and about 85 meters in width, Lake Parz is a compact yet highly scenic destination often compared to the landscapes of Switzerland. The lake is fed by pristine mountain springs and reaches a maximum depth of approximately 5 meters. The surrounding forest is part of a protected national park, providing a habitat for diverse wildlife including roe deer and numerous bird species. Numerous hiking trails connect Lake Parz to nearby cultural sites like Goshavank Monastery, making it a hub for nature and culture enthusiasts.
