Radan (Serbia)

Weather…

Radan Mountain is located in southern Serbia, stretching between the valleys of the Toplica and Jablanica rivers. With its highest peak, Šopot, reaching 1,408 meters, it belongs to the Rhodope massif. The mountain is of volcanic origin and is characterized by exceptional geological and biological diversity. One of the most famous natural phenomena in its immediate vicinity is Đavolja Varoš (Devil's Town), a collection of distinctive earth pyramids. Radan is almost entirely forested, with beech forests dominating the higher elevations. The region is also renowned for its healing thermal springs, found in the nearby spas of Prolom Banja and Sijarinska Banja. Due to its remote location, pristine nature has been preserved here, providing a habitat for numerous rare plant and animal species. Historically, the region was an important center of the Serbian state in the Middle Ages, as evidenced by ruins such as the nearby Justiniana Prima (Caričin Grad).
