Vlasina River (Serbia)

Weather…

The Vlasina is a river in southeastern Serbia that originates from Lake Vlasina, situated on a plateau at an elevation of over 1,200 meters. The river has a length of approximately 70 kilometers and flows into the South Morava near the settlement of Turekovac. Its upper course is characterized by clean water and an untouched mountain landscape, while the lower course flows through fertile agricultural lands. The town of Vlasotince is particularly well-known, located on the banks of the Vlasina and famous for its viticulture and pretty river beaches. In the past, the river was extensively used to operate mills and sawmills; today, it plays a vital role in local water supply and electricity generation through small hydroelectric power plants. The Vlasina is also a popular destination for anglers, as it is rich in fish such as barbel and trout. Ecologically, the drainage basin is among the least polluted regions in Serbia.
