Dinira National Park (Venezuela)

Weather…

Dinira National Park was established on November 30, 1988, and spans across the states of Lara, Portuguesa, and Trujillo in western Venezuela. Covering an area of approximately 45,328 hectares, it protects a significant portion of the Andes Mountains, particularly the headwaters of numerous rivers crucial for regional agriculture. The landscape is characterized by rugged mountain ranges, deep valleys, and expansive páramo areas at elevations above 3,000 meters. A special highlight of the park is the 'El Vino' waterfall, which gets its name from the reddish tint of the water caused by tannins from the surrounding forests. Dinira is home to rich biodiversity, including the endangered spectacled bear and numerous endemic plant species such as frailejones. Geologically, the area is part of the Venezuelan Andes and features a complex topography that has led to the creation of isolated ecosystems. The park is not only an essential water reservoir but also a place of great natural beauty and spiritual significance for the local population.
