Weather…

Mission Lodge, historically known as Venn's Town, is one of the most significant cultural sites in the Seychelles, located within the Morne Seychellois National Park on Mahé. The settlement was founded in 1875 by the Church Missionary Society as a boarding school for the children of liberated slaves who had been rescued by British patrol ships following the abolition of the slave trade. The ruins of the complex bear witness to the efforts made to provide education and a new livelihood for those freed during this period of social upheaval. A highlight of the site is the lookout pavilion, which was inaugurated to mark the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in 1972, offering a spectacular panoramic view over the southwest coast of Mahé. Today, the site is on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list and serves as a place of remembrance for colonial history and the path to freedom. Its peaceful atmosphere and mountain setting make it a place of reflection on the roots of Seychellois society.
