Sunčana Dolina, which translates to Sunny Valley, is a prominent southern slope and area within the Kopaonik mountain range in central Serbia. Situated at an elevation of approximately 1,710 meters above sea level, the region is characterized by an exceptionally high number of sunny days per year, even during the peak of winter. Geologically, the area is part of the Kopaonik massif, composed mainly of crystalline schists and granite, which significantly influences the local drainage patterns and soil composition. During the winter months, Sunčana Dolina serves as a key sector of the Kopaonik ski resort, featuring slopes that are particularly favored by beginners and recreational skiers due to their gentle gradient. In the summer, the landscape shifts to sub-alpine meadows rich in endemic flora, such as the Kopaonik houseleek, and various wild berries. Its strategic position gives expansive views toward the Kosovo Basin and the distant Šar Mountains to the south. The intensive tourism development of this valley began in the 1970s, playing a crucial role in establishing Kopaonik as a premier Balkan winter sports destination.
