Vučak Zapad represents the western spur of the Vučak massif in the Kopaonik mountains, reaching an elevation of approximately 1,930 meters. This region is geologically characterized by a high proportion of magmatic intrusions and hydrothermally altered rocks, pointing to Kopaonik's volcanic past. The vegetation on Vučak Zapad is sparser than in protected valleys, consisting mainly of alpine dwarf shrubs and resilient grasses capable of withstanding strong westerly winds. Historically, this ridge was a vital part of the medieval mining district where silver and lead were extracted. Today, the area is known for its pristine wilderness, frequented far less by large ski lift installations than the resort's center. The summit provides a unique perspective on the Rogozna mountain and the more distant peaks of the Dinarides. Ecologically, Vučak Zapad is a key site for monitoring alpine climate change in Serbia due to its exposed and undisturbed nature. Hikers value the solitude and the expansive visibility that can reach over a hundred kilometers on clear days.
