Kuskovo Estate (Russia)

Weather…

The historic Kuskovo Estate, located on the eastern edge of present-day Moscow, is one of the most magnificent 18th-century summer residences and is frequently referred to as the 'Versailles of Moscow'. Originally owned by the incredibly wealthy Sheremetev noble family, the expansive estate was designed specifically as a representative venue for lavish festivities, theatrical performances, and aristocratic receptions. The architectural masterpiece of the ensemble is the elegant palace, painted in delicate pink and white, which was constructed entirely of wood but cleverly designed to resemble a massive stone building in the Neoclassical style. The estate is surrounded by a strictly geometric French formal garden, decorated with numerous marble sculptures, ornate pavilions, including a Dutch and an Italian house, and a vast boating pond. Today, Kuskovo houses the unique State Museum of Ceramics, featuring an invaluable collection of fine porcelain and glass.
