Bolshoi Theatre (Russia)

Weather…

The Bolshoi Theatre, located in the heart of Moscow, is one of the world's most prestigious and historically significant opera and ballet houses. The current Neoclassical building, with its distinctive eight-column portico topped by a bronze quadriga of Apollo, was inaugurated in 1825. It replaced an earlier structure that had been completely destroyed by a devastating fire. The theatre has a rich performance history, having hosted the world premieres of numerous masterpieces, including seminal works by Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, and Rachmaninoff. The magnificent main auditorium, famous for its excellent acoustics and opulent decor of gold and red velvet, can accommodate over 2,000 spectators. Between 2005 and 2011, the Bolshoi underwent an extensive, billion-dollar restoration project aimed at reviving its historical grandeur while upgrading its stage technology to state-of-the-art standards.
