Muslibegović House (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Weather…

The Muslibegović House in Mostar is one of the most fascinating and impeccably preserved monuments of urban Ottoman residential architecture in the Balkans. The imposing building was constructed in the second half of the 18th century by the aristocratic Muslibegović family and remained in their continuous possession for generations. The layout of the house is a masterpiece of traditional Ottoman spatial design, strictly divided into two distinct living areas: the selamluk, designated for male residents and receiving external guests, and the haremluk, serving as the intimate and highly private quarters for women and the immediate family. Visitors are welcomed by a tranquil interior courtyard enclosed by high stone walls, featuring manicured gardens and a central fountain. The interior is richly appointed with artistically carved wooden ceilings, traditional carpets, original 19th-century furniture, and rare Islamic manuscripts. Today, the estate stands as a protected National Monument, functioning both as a museum and an exclusive boutique hotel that provides guests an authentic immersion into the elegance of the past.
