Mostar Peace Bell Tower
The Peace Bell Tower (Zvonik mira) in Mostar is part of the Franciscan Church of St. Peter and Paul complex and stands as one of the most distinctive and dominating structures on the city's skyline. The original church and monastery were completely destroyed by shelling during the war in 1992. During the reconstruction around the turn of the millennium, the Franciscan community decided to build a tower that surpassed all previous dimensions. Reaching an impressive height of 107.2 meters, it is the tallest church tower in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the highest buildings in the region. It symbolizes not only post-war reconstruction but also the unwavering presence of the local Catholic community. Inside, an elevator (along with numerous stairs) leads up to an observation deck at a height of about 75 meters, offering visitors an unparalleled 360-degree panoramic view over the Old Town, the famous Old Bridge, and the surrounding mountains.
