Briješće is an urban neighborhood within the Novi Grad municipality of Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Located in the western part of the Sarajevo basin, it has transformed over the past few decades from a rural settlement into a key residential and industrial area. Geographically, Briješće is bordered by the Bosna and Miljacka rivers, which shape the topographical features of the area. Due to its strategic location along the main transport axes connecting Sarajevo with the rest of the country, the neighborhood serves as an important hub for rail and road traffic. It houses significant depots for the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as numerous medium-sized enterprises. During the Bosnian War, Briješće was situated on a critical defense line and suffered extensive damage, but it has since been modernized and expanded. Today, the district features a mix of apartment blocks, private houses, and commercial spaces, making it a vital part of the expanding metropolis.
