Kreuzenstein Castle (Austria)

Weather…

Kreuzenstein Castle is an architectural gem north of Vienna, reconstructed in the late 19th century on the ruins of a medieval fortress. Count Johann Nepomuk Wilczek rebuilt the complex between 1874 and 1906 in Neo-Gothic style to house his extensive art collections. Original architectural components from all over Europe were integrated during construction, giving the castle an authentic medieval appearance. Today, the castle houses one of Austria's most significant private armories and a valuable chapel. Its strategic location on a hilltop provides a wide view over the Danube Valley and the Weinviertel region. Due to its photogenic backdrop, the castle frequently serves as a filming location for international movie productions. Visitors can explore the magnificent halls and the historical castle kitchen as part of guided tours.
