Sankt Valentin is located in the westernmost tip of Lower Austria, directly on the border with Upper Austria, and belongs to the Amstetten district. The city has developed into one of the region's most important logistical centers due to its strategic location on the Westbahn railway and the Westautobahn (A1). Historically, the rise of the municipality is inseparably linked to the expansion of the railway network in the 19th century, which laid the foundation for subsequent industrialization. A defining element of the local economy is the Case IH tractor plant (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch), which has brought Sankt Valentin worldwide fame in the agricultural engineering industry. In addition to industry, the city is also embedded in the cultural life of the Mostviertel. The Roman Catholic Parish Church of Saint Valentine is a prominent building in the city center. Sankt Valentin also functions as an important educational and supply center for the surrounding area. The surrounding landscape is characterized by gentle hills and intensive agriculture, with the Enns River forming a natural border in the immediate vicinity. The city combines modern urban infrastructure with the palpable down-to-earthness of an industrial region rich in tradition.
