The Seven Lakes (Haft Kul) are located in the Fann Mountains of Tajikistan at altitudes around 1,500-2,000 meters. This chain of seven glacial lakes is a popular hiking destination. Each lake has a different color, from turquoise to emerald green, due to varying mineral concentrations and sediments. The lakes are: Mijgon, Soya, Hushyor, Nofin, Khurdak, Marguzor, and Hazorchashma. The largest is Marguzor, about 1.5 kilometers long. The area features steep cliffs and alpine meadows. The region is rich in endemic plant species. Hiking trails connect the lakes; basic accommodation is available. Best time to visit is June to September. The lakes are important for local irrigation. They exemplify the alpine beauty of Central Asia.
