Hazrati Shoh Lake (Marguzor)

Hazrati Shoh Lake, also known as Marguzor, is the most spectacular of the 'Seven Lakes' (Haft Kul). Its deep blue color and vast size make it a highlight for any nature lover. The lake was formed by natural dams and is surrounded by steep, barren mountains that create a dramatic contrast with the clear water. Legend has it that the lakes were formed from the tears of an old man searching for his seven daughters. Visitors often reach the lake as part of a multi-day tour through the Shing Valley. The surroundings offer excellent opportunities for hiking and experiencing local culture in the small villages along the shores. Sacred sites are located nearby, giving the lake its name. Gastronomy in local homestays is authentically Tajik, often featuring freshly caught fish or mountain cheese. The best time to visit is from May to October. Access is from Panjakent via 4WD vehicles.
