Lake Iskanderkul (Alexander Lake) is located in the Fann Mountains of Tajikistan at an altitude of 2,195 meters. The lake is named after Alexander the Great, who is legendary in the region. It is a reservoir formed by a natural dam. Its area is about 3.4 square kilometers, with a maximum depth of 72 meters. The water is intense blue. The lake is fed by the Saritag and Hazormech rivers. On the northern shore lies a village of the same name. The area is a popular hiking and camping destination. The nearby Sharaff (Serene) waterfall plunges over a cliff. The lake is rich in trout, attracting anglers. The region has diverse flora including juniper forests. Legend says Alexander's horse Bucephalus drowned here. Iskanderkul is an important ecological and tourist hotspot.
