Terskol
Terskol sits even higher than Elbrus Village and is the animated hub for skiers and snowboarders in the Baksan Valley. From here, it's just a stone's throw to the base stations of Cheget and Azau. Mount Cheget is legendary for its steep mogul runs and spectacular views of the twin peaks of Elbrus, making Terskol a favorite for freeriders. The village has a wide variety of accommodations, from simple hostels to comfortable hotels, as well as numerous sports shops and rental stations. After a day on the mountain, local taverns invite you to enjoy hearty Caucasian cuisine, with shashlik grills smoking almost everywhere. Terskol is also a center for mountain guides organizing climbs to Elbrus. The best way to arrive is by car or bus from Mineralnye Vody. The high season spans the entire winter for winter sports fans, while in summer, hikers explore routes to the 'Maiden's Braids' waterfall or the Terskol Observatory. The climate is high-alpine, so warm clothing is essential year-round.
