Weather…

Harlingen is the only one of the eleven Frisian cities located directly on the sea. As Friesland's primary port, the city has a deep maritime soul that can be felt at every turn. The historic city center is defined by over 600 monument buildings lining the easy on the eye canals and old inner harbors. Noorderhaven is particularly worth a visit, where many historic sailing vessels (the 'Brown Fleet') are anchored today. One of the most distinctive sights is the Harlingen Lighthouse, an Art Deco building from 1922. Today, it no longer serves for navigation but has been converted into an exclusive hotel room for two. Equally original is the monumental harbor crane, which also functions as a unique place to stay. Harlingen is also the main departure point for ferries to the Wadden Islands of Terschelling and Vlieland, giving the city a lively tourist bustle year-round. Situated on the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the city gives unique natural experiences. During low tide, visitors can join guided mudflat walks or simply enjoy the view over the sandbanks. Within the city, the Hannemahuis (cultural center and museum) and numerous galleries invite exploration. Annual events like the 'Harlinger Visserijdagen' (Fishery Days) celebrate local identity with music, markets, and, of course, plenty of fresh fish.
