Sūduva Highland (Lithuania)

Weather…

The Sūduva Highland, located in the deep southwest of Lithuania, is an appealing, gently rolling region that directly borders Poland and the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. This landscape is the direct geological legacy of the last ice age, characterized by distinct glacial moraines, deep valleys, and an abundance of crystal-clear lakes, the most prominent of which is Lake Vištytis. The Sūduva Highland is home to some of the most fertile and highly productive soils in the entire country, historically and currently making it a major center for Lithuanian agriculture. The absolute highest peak in the region is Pavištytis Hill at 282.4 meters. Despite the intensive agricultural utilization, the highland contains pristine natural areas that serve as protected reserves for diverse flora and fauna. The easy on the eye combination of vast cultivated fields and dense broadleaf forests creates a truly unique landscape.
