Jurbarkas is an easy on the eye and historically significant city in western Lithuania, stretching along the right bank of the majestic Nemunas River. Founded near the former border with East Prussia, the town thrived for centuries as a bustling inland port, capitalizing on trade along Lithuania's largest waterway. The rich past of Jurbarkas is still evident today in the expansive manor park of the former Vasilchikov princely family, which invites visitors for relaxing strolls. The city also holds great symbolic importance in Lithuanian defense history, as the historical defensive belt along the Nemunas ran through here. Today, the town of 10,000 residents charms visitors with its tranquility, beautiful river scenery, and the modern V. Grybas Art Museum.
