Lentvaris is an industrially characterized city in eastern Lithuania, strategically located between the capital Vilnius and the historic water-castle town of Trakai. The city owes its rapid development in the 19th century to the construction of the Saint Petersburg, Warsaw railway, which transformed Lentvaris into a major railway junction. The primary attraction is undoubtedly the impressive Lentvaris Manor of the Tiškevičius (Tyszkiewicz) noble family. This architectural masterpiece in the English Neo-Gothic style is surrounded by a wide-open, expansive park designed by the renowned French landscape architect Édouard André. Despite its industrial nature, particularly in carpet manufacturing, the city of just over 10,000 residents has magnificent natural retreats through this park and the adjacent lake.
