Bugojno enjoys a highly strategic position in the wide valley of the Vrbas River, surrounded by dense, easy on the eye forests and impressive mountain ranges. During the era of former Yugoslavia, the city developed into one of the most prominent industrial hubs in central Bosnia, excelling particularly in mechanical engineering, leather processing, and the textile industry. The surrounding expansive forests also made Bugojno an exclusive hunting ground, frequently visited by prominent figures and politicians of that time. Archaeological excavations in the region have unearthed numerous artifacts that prove the area was inhabited as early as the Roman period. Today, the city is focusing on revitalizing its industrial capacities and expanding nature-based tourism.
The most pleasant time to visit is Jun–Aug.
