Kupreško Polje is an expansive karst plateau in western Bosnia and Herzegovina, situated at an average elevation of about 1,150 meters above sea level. The field covers an area of approximately 93 square kilometers and is enclosed by towering mountains such as Malovan and Stožer, which contribute to an alpine climate featuring long, snowy winters. Geologically, it is a classic karst depression where surface water vanishes through numerous sinkholes known as ponors. The region is famous for the traditional "Strljanica" harvest festival, which features a prestigious mountain grass-mowing competition inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. During the winter months, the plateau transforms into a major skiing center, while in summer, it serves as vital grazing land for livestock. Historically, Kupreško Polje's strategic location made it the site of significant military engagements, as evidenced by various monuments in the vicinity. The wide open spaces and crisp mountain air make it a good destination for active travelers and nature enthusiasts.
