💡 Tips
- Visit during the harvest season (October-December) to see how local cocoa and coffee are processed.
- Ensure you have enough cash (Leones), as banking services are unavailable in the immediate village.
- Dress modestly and greet the town elders if you visit the central 'Barray' (community meeting point).
- Wear sturdy boots; many paths leading to the farms are unpaved and can be very muddy after rain.
- Due to high humidity, stay hydrated and always carry bottled or treated drinking water.

Pandebu-Tokpombu is a twin settlement in Kenema District in Sierra Leone's Eastern Province, set in the inner Mende heartland between Kenema and Bo. Like many smaller Mende villages, Pandebu-Tokpombu consists of two closely linked, kinship-bound villages standing side by side, merged administratively during the 20th century. Its economy is based on swamp and lowland rice farming, cocoa, coffee, and palm oil plantations, and the use of timber from the surrounding secondary forests. The weekly market draws traders from Bo, Kenema, and Pujehun districts and is a central meeting point for the exchange of agricultural produce, simple crafts, and imported goods. Pandebu-Tokpombu has a primary school, a secondary school, several small clinics, churches, and mosques. The historic ties to the Mende Poro men's secret society and the Sande women's society still shape much of the social and religious life of the region. Road links were significantly improved after the civil war.
