Tea Plantation Mahé (Seychelles)

Weather…

The Mahé Tea Plantation is situated on the cool mountain slopes of Sans Soucis Road within the Morne Seychellois National Park. Established in the 1960s, it remains the only active tea plantation in the Seychelles. The elevation and high humidity of the area provide optimal conditions for the cultivation of tea bushes. Visitors can tour the plantation and observe the comprehensive tea-making process, from the manual harvesting of leaves to final packaging. The onsite factory still employs some traditional machinery for withering, rolling, and drying the tea leaves. From the plantation's viewpoint, visitors are treated to spectacular panoramic vistas of Mahé's western coastline and the surrounding forested peaks. The various tea blends produced here, frequently infused with local flavors like vanilla or cinnamon, are highly regarded. The plantation is a key component of the island's agricultural heritage and maintains an industrial legacy unique to the Seychelles.
