💡 Tips
- Being the airport district, expect some aircraft noise; it's better suited for transit convenience than silent beach relaxation.
- The local SPTC buses to Victoria run frequently on the main road and are much cheaper than taking a taxi.
- The eastern coast beaches here are shallow and good for walking, but keep an eye on the tides before swimming.
- Grab last-minute local souvenirs at the airport duty-free if you forgot to buy them during your trip.
🍽 Food

🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Your last chance to comfortably buy Takamaka rum and Seychelles spices.
Well-suited for grabbing a cold Seybrew beer or cheap snacks before a flight.
Located slightly south, it has quieter stretches away from the runway noise.
Take a relaxed stroll offering expansive views out toward the inner islands.

Pointe Larue is a relatively flat coastal strip on the eastern shore of Mahé whose economic and logistical importance far exceeds its modest size: it is home to Seychelles International Airport, opened in 1971 with British support and the main entry point for tourists ever since. The roughly three-kilometer runway was partly constructed on reclaimed coral ground and accommodates wide-body aircraft from Europe, the Middle East, and East Africa. Cargo handlers, in-flight catering companies, and residential quarters for hospitality workers have grown up around the airport. Yet Pointe Larue still retains something of the older island calm: along the coast lies a small nineteenth-century Creole cemetery and the narrow Pointe Larue beach, where locals barbecue on weekends. The Catholic church of St. Anthony and several small Creole restaurants further define the village character, greeting arriving travelers with a first glimpse of ocean blue.
