Maschlina is a significant district in the plain of the municipality of Triesen, directly bordering the banks of the Rhine. Originally, this area was shaped by the regular flooding of the Rhine and only became safely habitable after large-scale Rhine regulation in the 19th and early 20th centuries. For a long time, Maschlina was an agricultural area where fodder cultivation and livestock farming were primarily practiced. With the economic transformation of Liechtenstein, the area changed into a mixed quarter that today includes both residential buildings and commercial spaces. The geographical location in the valley plain makes Maschlina a flat and easily accessible part of the community, which encouraged the settlement of industrial and commercial enterprises. At the same time, the Rhine bank near Maschlina serves as an important local recreation area for the population, with cycling paths and walking trails along the dike. The connection to the Swiss side via nearby Rhine bridges underlines the transport importance of this part of town.
