A severe road accident occurred in Dorog, caused by a driver operating without a valid license. Due to the severity of the injuries, one participant had to be airlifted by a rescue helicopter to a specialized clinic.
Authorities closed a catering establishment in Dorog where narcotics were being sold to customers alongside meals. The raid in January resulted in several arrests and a comprehensive investigation into the management.
Dorog is a prominent industrial town in Komárom-Esztergom County, situated at the foothills of the Pilis and Gerecse mountains. The settlement was first mentioned in written records in 1193, but its modern development was fundamentally defined by the coal mining that commenced in 1845. For over a century and a half, mining shaped the social fabric and architectural character of the town, evidenced today by distinctive miners' colonies and industrial monuments. Dorog is widely recognized as a "sporting town," largely due to the Dorogi FC founded in 1914 and the international successes of local wrestlers and swimmers. The town serves as a crucial transportation hub near Esztergom and the Danube River. Although the mining era concluded in the late 1990s, Dorog remains a significant economic center, currently dominated by chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
