Fort Monostor in Komárom is the largest modern fortress in Central Europe, built between 1850 and 1871 as part of the Habsburg Empire's defense system. Spanning 70 hectares, the complex contains a total of 640 rooms and was once capable of housing up to 8,000 soldiers. Today, it operates as a military museum and event center, showcasing contemporary military architecture and the daily lives of soldiers. The building complex is currently on the UNESCO Tentative List due to its strategic and architectural significance.
