The Magyar Suzuki Zrt. plant in Esztergom was established in 1991 and became one of Hungary's most significant industrial facilities in the post-communist era. What is this place?
The Suzuki plant in Esztergom functions as one of the most significant production bases of the Japanese car manufacturer in all of Europe and is a central economic engine for the industrial development of the local Hungarian region.
Visiting
As this is a highly secured and active production facility, entry for regular tourists is generally not permitted, except during rare, specially organized, and previously approved official factory tours conducted by the management.
Where to view it
The enormous dimensions of the factory facilities and the massive parking lots full of newly produced vehicles are best seen from the higher roads of the city or from a distance from the hills above the pretty Danube River.
Local products
Although there is no classic tourist market here, the local gastronomy and service industry around the plant benefit enormously from the constant presence of the many international engineers and the resident factory workers.
Active season
The plant pulses year-round in regular shift operation, but visitors can experience the logistical processes most intensely on weekdays when endless convoys of car transporters deliver the finished vehicles to all European countries.
