Guiledje Military Museum

The Military Museum of Guiledje is located in the southern part of Guinea-Bissau, on the site of one of the most decisive battles of the War of Independence. Guiledje was a strategic Portuguese military stronghold designed to sever the supply lines of the PAIGC guerrillas flowing from neighboring Guinea-Conakry. The successful overrunning of the base by liberation forces in May 1973 marked a psychological and tactical turning point in the conflict.
