Šator
Šator is a mountain range in western Bosnia and Herzegovina, rising between the towns of Bosansko Grahovo and Glamoč. Its highest summit, Veliki Šator, reaches 1,875 meters. The mountain owes its name to its distinctive tent-like shape ('šator' means tent in Serbo-Croatian). The crown jewel of the range is Šator Lake (Šatorsko jezero), a pretty glacial lake located at an elevation of 1,488 meters and surrounded by steep limestone cliffs. The flora of Šator is exceptionally diverse, hosting numerous endemic plant species native to the Dinaric Alps. The landscape is characterized by high mountain meadows and rugged karst formations that contrast sharply with the dense forests on the lower slopes. Due to its remote location, Šator features extraordinary tranquility and is a quiet find for hikers seeking untouched nature. Historically significant during past conflicts for its tactical vantage points, the mountain is now primarily valued for its outstanding natural beauty and ecological importance.
