Strmica is a strategically located village in the Šibenik-Knin County, right on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is situated in a valley between the Dinara and Uilica mountains, through which the Butižnica River flows. The place is historically known as an important junction between Dalmatia and the Bosnian hinterland. The landscape around Strmica is rugged and impressive. The proximity to Dinara, the highest mountain in Croatia, makes it an attractive destination for experienced hikers and mountaineers. The Butižnica, with its springs and waterfalls, gives a refreshing contrast to the dry karst landscape. The place has a rich folklore and tradition, kept alive in local customs. Nearby is the city of Knin with its monumental fortress, one of the largest in Europe. Visitors to Strmica can enjoy untouched nature and take trips to the Krka National Park, whose springs are not far away. The region is also known for its traditional cuisine, where meat dishes and homemade dairy products dominate.
