Petrovac is a small municipality located in the western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the Republika Srpska entity. It was formed after the Bosnian War through the division of the pre-war Bosanski Petrovac municipality. The administrative center is situated in the village of Drinić. Geographically, the region is defined by the massive Grmeč and Klekovača mountain ranges, making it a hub for forestry and timber processing. The pristine natural environment and dense forests provide habitats for numerous wildlife species, making the region potentially significant for eco-tourism. Historically, the area was an important center of resistance during World War II, a fact marked by several monuments in the vicinity. Despite its small population, Petrovac has a well-developed infrastructure tailored to the forestry industry, which remains the backbone of the local economy.
