- Early morning is the best time for bird watching, as the wildlife is most active and the light is well-suited for photography.
- The entrance is near Čapljina; follow the signs carefully as the rural roads can be quite narrow.

Hutovo Blato is an impressive nature park in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, near the town of Čapljina. The area consists of numerous lakes, canals, and wetlands fed by the unique Krupa River. It is one of the richest bird reserves in Southeast Europe, with over 240 registered species, including rare ducks, herons, and cormorants. Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, the waters never freeze in winter. The most popular tourist activity is the 'photo safari', a trip in traditional boats through narrow canals covered with water lilies. The silence of nature and bird watching in their natural habitat create a unique appeal. There are also opportunities for sport fishing and marked trails for hiking and cycling around Lake Deransko. The Karaotok information center provides accommodation and a restaurant specializing in local delicacies such as eel and frog legs, sourced directly from the region's waters. Hutovo Blato is a great destination for ecotourists and photographers wanting to experience the untouched flora and fauna of the Balkans. Proximity to the Adriatic Sea ensures a pleasant breeze even on hot summer days.
