Zhabinka is a vital industrial center and a major transport hub in southwestern Belarus, located near the city of Brest. The town's development was significantly accelerated by the construction of the Moscow-Warsaw railway in 1871, which established the locality as a crucial transit station. Today, Zhabinka is best known for its sugar refinery, which began operations in 1963 and stands as one of the largest facilities of its kind in Eastern Europe. Situated on the Mukhavets River, the city benefits from its strategic position along international transportation corridors connecting East and West. In addition to sugar production, the town hosts significant enterprises involved in animal feed production and construction materials. Zhabinka also functions as a satellite town for Brest, leading to consistent population growth and infrastructure modernization. The surrounding area provides various recreational opportunities along the riverbanks and in nearby forested regions.
