Lisnaya River (Belarus)

Weather…

The Lisnaya is an enchanting, 85-kilometer-long river in the western part of Belarus that significantly contributes to the Bug River's hydrological system as a major right tributary. Its overall character is fundamentally defined by its course through the untouched, dense woodlands of the famous Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park, which stands as one of the last true primeval forests remaining on the European continent. The river originates from the direct confluence of the Right and Left Lisnaya rivers, meandering in countless tight bends across a predominantly flat landscape dominated by marshy depressions and lush riparian forests. This extreme sinuosity and highly secluded location create innumerable tranquil water pools and shaded shorelines that are highly favored as watering holes by European wildlife, notably including bison, wild boar, and moose. The Lisnaya remains entirely unsuitable for commercial navigation, a fact that has greatly aided in preserving its pure, natural wilderness, which today is only occasionally interrupted by passing kayaks and completely undisturbed waterfowl.
