Navahrudak, picturesquely situated on the highest elevations of the Navahrudak Upland in the Grodno Region, is a city of profound historical significance for all of Eastern Europe. In the 13th century, it served as the very first capital of the newly established Grand Duchy of Lithuania under the rule of Mindaugas, a glorious era commemorated by the imposing ruins of Navahrudak Castle that still majestically overlook the city from Castle Hill. Beyond its medieval prominence, the city is globally celebrated as the birthplace of the great Romantic poet Adam Mickiewicz; his faithfully reconstructed childhood home now operates as a popular literary museum. Characterized by its tranquil atmosphere, narrow historic streets, and striking surrounding landscapes, Navahrudak is a legendary place that deeply immerses visitors in medieval history.
