Pinsk, located at the confluence of the Pina and Pripyat rivers, is celebrated as the undisputed historical and cultural capital of the Polesia region in southern Belarus. Largely spared from the worst destruction of World War II, the city has one of the most intact and spectacular Baroque historical centers in the country. The architectural crown jewel of Pinsk is the former Jesuit Collegium complex and the magnificent Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, known for its ornate woodwork and striking bell tower. As a major river port, the city historically served as a vital trade link connecting the Black and Baltic seas. The welcoming cobblestone streets, the scenic river promenade, and the well-preserved urban estates reflect a rich, multicultural past heavily shaped by Belarusian, Polish, and Jewish communities.
