Filzmoos is located at 1,057 meters in the Salzburg region and has preserved its original mountain village character. The scenery is dominated by the 2,458-meter-high Bischofsmütze, which is the landmark of the region. In winter, the village transforms into a family-friendly ski resort, part of the Ski Amadé network, yet it remains significantly quieter than the larger neighboring centers. A special highlight is the international balloon weeks in January, when dozens of hot air balloons fill the sky above the Dachstein massif. In summer, Filzmoos is a hub for mountaineers and hikers. Highlights include the Hofalmen with its mountain lakes and the Rossbrand, one of the most beautiful vantage points in the Eastern Alps, offering a 360-degree view of over 150 prominent peaks. The village is also known for its high density of award-winning restaurants, making it a destination for gourmets. Access is usually via the Tauern highway (A10) and the Eben im Pongau exit, followed by a short drive through the Enns Valley.
