Vorchdorf is located in the Upper Austrian Almtal valley and forms the transition from the Alpine foothills to the Salzkammergut. The community is internationally known for Eggenberg Castle, which houses one of Austria's oldest private breweries. Among other things, the famous Samichlaus beer is brewed here. In addition to the brewing culture, Hochhaus Castle, a 16th-century Renaissance building that now houses a local history museum and a restaurant, shapes the cultural face of the town. Geographically, Vorchdorf is an important transport hub, accessible via the A1 West motorway and the Vorchdorf railway to Lambach, as well as the local railway to Gmunden. The town's history dates back to the 12th century, with the parish church of the Assumption, featuring its baroque high altar, being a central building. The economy is diverse, ranging from traditional crafts to modern industrial companies in the business park. Vorchdorf sees itself as a pulsating center of the lower Almtal and has numerous leisure activities in the hilly surroundings. The combination of industrial history, living tradition, and its role as a railway hub makes Vorchdorf a unique place in the Traunviertel region.
