Río Grande
Río Grande is the largest city in the Tierra del Fuego province, primarily known for its industrial assembly plants and traditional sheep farming. It holds the prestigious title of the International Capital of Trout Fishing, drawing anglers worldwide to the Grande River to catch massive sea-run brown trout. Beyond fishing, visitors can explore local history at the Virginia Choquintel Museum, detailing the indigenous Selk'nam people, or visit historic estancias (ranches) like María Behety, which features the world's largest shearing shed. The city also hosts the Monument to the Heroes of Malvinas. The city is accessible via National Route 3 or its local airport. The climate is subpolar oceanic, cold and windy year-round, making the summer months from December to February the most suitable for outdoor activities and fly fishing.
