Pyriatynskyi National Nature Park (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Pyriatynskyi National Nature Park was established on December 11, 2009, in the Poltava Oblast, covering an area of approximately 12,028 hectares. It is situated in the valley of the Udai River, a tributary of the Sula, and protects valuable wetlands, marshes, and floodplain forests. Geographically, the area is characterized by a flat topography that is convenient for the development of extensive reed and sedge swamps. These biotopes provide vital nesting sites for numerous waterfowl and serve as a migration corridor for rare species such as the crane. Historically, the Pyriatyn region was an important center for Ukrainian crafts and agriculture, which is reflected today in the cultural context of the park. The flora includes over 700 plant species, many of which are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. The park plays a central role in regulating the region's water balance and gives space for ecological education and nature-friendly recreation. Scientific work on-site primarily focuses on monitoring the biodiversity in the wetlands.
