Ichnianskyi National Nature Park (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Ichnianskyi National Nature Park is located in the Chernihiv Oblast of northern Ukraine and was established on April 21, 2004. Covering an area of approximately 9,665 hectares, the park protects the typical forest-steppe landscapes along the upper reaches of the Ichenka and Udai rivers. The terrain is characterized by gentle hills, river valleys, and numerous small marshes that support a specific range of flora and fauna. Historically, the region was part of the Cossack Hetmanate and shows traces of ancient agricultural use, which are now managed in balance with nature conservation. The vegetation is dominated by mixed pine and oak forests, as well as extensive meadows where rare plants like the snowdrop thrive. Wildlife includes elk, roe deer, and numerous songbirds, making the park an important sanctuary amidst the surrounding intensive agricultural lands. Scientific programs focus on the regeneration of degraded ecosystems and the preservation of the genetic diversity of local populations.
