Sofiyivka Park (Ukraine)

Weather…

Sofiyivka Park in Uman is a world-renowned masterpiece of landscape design and one of the most romantic spots in Ukraine. Created in 1796 by the Polish magnate Stanisław Potocki for his wife Sofia, the park was envisioned as a living illustration of Homer's 'Iliad' and 'Odyssey.' Every grotto, fountain, and statue is strategically placed to represent ancient Greek myths. The park covers 170 hectares and features more than 2,000 types of local and exotic trees. Visitors can take a boat ride on the dark underground river Acheron, admire the 18-meter-high Snake Fountain, and walk through the Grotto of Calypso. White marble statues of gods and philosophers are scattered across the valley, creating an atmosphere of timeless elegance. Conveniently located between Kyiv and Odesa, Uman is a popular stop for travelers. The park is most striking in late May during the lilac bloom and in mid-October for the spectacular autumn colors. Guided tours are available, revealing the romantic legends and engineering secrets behind the park's elaborate water systems and rock formations.
